MK6 Fiesta
Currently in the process of trying to replace my girlfriend's car rather rapidly. She seems pretty set on a MK6 fiesta - I have said the 1.25
would be the one to go for if so. ( It will be to replacing a 1.4 8v fabia)
However, I seem to be getting a lot of differing opinions on these cars in general - has anyone on here had any experiences with them?
Cheers
Andy

My wife had 2 mk6 STs, build quality was fairly plastic, typical of a small ford. Couldnt really compare to the smaller engines as it was the revvy
2.0 that made it fun. Unless its very cheap I would test drive plenty of other options to be sure its not just the 'cute' look thats made
her decision.
EDIT - just noted it seems the mk5 may have been the version she had, but ive always viewed it as mk6 with the current version being a mk7. But i dont
think the 1.25 comes in the mk7 so we should be thinking of the same shape!

Daughter has the 1.25 Fiesta, her boy friend has just bought a 1.4 one. The 1.25 is a great little car but the 1.4 is so much better to drive those
few extra CC's seem to make a big difference.

^ Interesting - I'm slightly surprised by that but it must all be down to torque as the power difference between the 1.25 and 1.4 is only
4BHP
From someone who has not driven one, it would seem to me the 1.4 gives little advantage for the additional CO2 and reduced economy but maybe
I'll have to try both of them before making a judgement.

My girlfriend had a 56 plate car so I guess this is the Mk6?
1.4 Diesel version.
It's great! She get 56mpg out of it and with the 16" wheels it handles like it's on rails.
She does 64miles per day in it commuting and car has now done 70k and barely had a problem. Only thing I can think of in the 30/40k miles since
we've had it is the alternator belt snapped.
The only problem with it is the 7-spoke alloys are over- soft. This has resulted in the wheels becoming shaped like 50p pieces.
In time for a new set of tyres we'll have to decide whether to replace with new, 2nd hand or steels.
Other than that it's been really great.
Cheers,
James

We have a new shape Fiesta as a pool car at work and i have to say nobody is that impressed by it
Its pretty gutless unless you give it some beans and its affected by sidewinds on the motorway and feels very light
Its just done 30k now and the release bearing is noisy
(believe the 1.6 is a lot better though)
Build quality and drive is nowhere near as good as Mrs perksy's Mazda 2 sport (new shape)
