JC Sports

All
I have seen a car for sale and it’s a JC sports.
I can’t find any info on this manufacturer, can anyone shed any light.
Cheers
Dave

Does "JC Sports" have to be an actual manufacturer?

IIRC aren't you allowed to call the manufacturer whoever you like (particularly if it's a fully self built car)?

For resale value and ease I suspect most kit builders use the kit makers name so buyers will recognise it.

Thanks for the replys
The car I have seen looks quite modern.
It’s a 7 replica, very much like an my Indy.
Says it was built 1998. Looks spot on.

If it's the John Cowperthwaite referenced in Cannonball's post, above, then he did several designs (including a 'Seven' style car) and they were plans-built using body 'tubs' of exterior quality MDF skinned with thin aluminium sheet, on crude ladder frame chassis (either fabricated or Triumph Herald).

Because they were plans-built, both quality and detail design can vary quite a bit from one builder to another.

Although they can sometimes look pretty and even be quite nicely built, as a general rule I'd value them on the basis of being parts+firewood.

that would be a 'locust'
he also designed the Midge,

as others have said the plans took a lot of interpretation, but if you find a genuine road registered one it should be ok.

Could also be a ringer unfortunately

it could well be an Indy or similar but using an older log book from another car

the number plate shown in that picture returns 'not found' from
https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/

returns
"Vehicle details could not be found
You searched for WRT82A"

it certainly doesn't look like a locust either.
if you are to precede do so with extreme caution
