Central Heating - Adding a new radiator
Alfa145 - 2/1/09 at 06:27 PM

As it seems to be a good day to ask about central heating systems I have a quick question, I think I know the answer already but will run it by you experts first.

I'm putting a new radiator into my system and taking off from the only accesable radiator I can.

Should I connect up to the old radiator as a loop so water runs through the old radiator then the new radiator

or

Should I link to flow and return individually to allow individual thermostatic control?

I am presuming my system is a flow and return type, I have a back boiler and it's a vented system but all the pipes are well hidden in walls or under nicely fitted carpets so don't want to disturb them.

Cheers

Rob

Flow and return, i dont think you can do it as a loop.

You can do it as a loop (in series) but you'd be using the same control for two rads. Not ideal.
You need to plumb it in parrallel.
