A bit O/T but the gearchange on my colleagues VW Golf MK4 is very stiff moving from side to side.

I seem to remember that my old Company Golf did this too, but I just gave it to the dealer to sort out, I think it must be a common problem.

Any one know the fix or is it a new cable?

he wants to no is it stiff on the gear ghange or just in the nutral position side to side

It is fairly common, just need to take the gearbox end of the linkage off, give it a clean and regrease and it'll be fine.

Have a look at the linkage as someone moves it side to side and it'll become obvious which bit is seized up.

yer my mk4 gti turbo is stiff in neutral but changes gear ok.thought it was in the box.worth a look them....thanks
