thermal - using heat, mechanical - using scraper or chemical - using paint stripper.

maybe I use the wrong paint or primer but I have found that paint does not like sticking to galvanised steel but I'll be it there is a piece that needs paint removing it will still like the proverbial.

I'd go with chemical as I wouldn't want to scratch the zinc coating.

The only paint that will stick to galv is 2k epoxy.

The type of chemical removal will depend on what sort of paint you have applied, try solvents before any sort of paint stripper. Standard gunwash will pickle any oil based paint and it will literally fall off.

Almost anything will stick if it's had suitable primer though.
