Has anyone used one of these?

TDI PD Tuning Chip VW Beetle Golf Passat Polo Jetta Fox
They claim the following...... +35BHP-70NM Torque.Faster 0-60 etc, more mpg

I have a 2007 1.9 TDi Passat and might give it a go with this chip for £25. Are there any downsides??

Theyr just a resistor in a box mate. They just fool your car into thinking the engines cold.

Spend the money and get a proper one like a tune-it box or diesel tuner. Or get it remapped.

Hey! I have tried one of these on my Superb 105. Not sure what the claims were for increase but there was a noticeable increase in power and a saving in fuel economy. BUT it did put on the engine warning light every couple of weeks.

This was just plain inconvenient but as I have the VAG-COM software, I was able to reset the engine light myself. However, my car is a company car and if I get caught with stuff like that in my car, I'd probably get in some sort of trouble. As such, if you want, I'll send you mine over to let you try it and if you like it, I'm sure we could come to some sort of a financial agreement.

Greg.

Ps the unit works by "fooling" the ECU into thinking the fuel coming into the engine is colder than it actually is. It's very simple, but effective none the less.

Let me know if you want to try it, but I'd recommend a proper re-map.
