Badging on Kit Cars and Specials
morcus - 6/9/09 at 06:57 PM

Is there any convention on badging? What sort of badges do people put on there cars, names, manufacturers marks, power ratings engine size?

mookaloid - 6/9/09 at 06:59 PM

the only convention is that there is no convention

Do what ever you like

blakep82 - 6/9/09 at 07:00 PM

whatever you want really

personally, i wouldn't put anything on.

i've never understood folk that paint their cars in Gulf colours, and put gulf stickers on them etc. these people aren't getting paid anything from Gulf, so why give them the advertising.

same goes for manufacturers badges on cars. i might be temped by a vauxhall or opel power sticker since thats my engine, but thats it

jack_t - 6/9/09 at 07:01 PM

just dont put a shopping list on like on the bonnet of this

speedyxjs - 6/9/09 at 07:02 PM

I quite like the idea of one off custom badges and will probably be getting one made for mine when i get some money.

Nitram38 had a good one made for the motoleira

Flamez - 6/9/09 at 07:10 PM

Caterham owners will frown if you badge it as a "7"

rusty nuts - 6/9/09 at 07:11 PM

I made my own from a piece of ally offcut as in my avatar

I put little blue Ford ovals, taken off wheel trims, on the bonnet and boot.

"So is it an original Ford?" was asked of me yesterday in Homebase carpark

If I had a shopping list on my car it would probably go something like..

GINSTERS
CADBURYS
PORK FARMS
TETLEYS
TUNNOCKS
RODDA'S
etc. etc.....

You get the idea.
Geoff.

Fozzie - 6/9/09 at 08:21 PM

Mmmmmm Tunnocks!

Would that be Tunnocks Wafers or Tunnocks Tea Cakes.......or both!

Fozzie

SPYDER - 6/9/09 at 08:24 PM

Fozzie - 6/9/09 at 08:31 PM

You could have a "word of the day"

"Today's word is Pancake"

blakep82 - 6/9/09 at 09:21 PM

^ yeah! paint a bit in matt black paint, like a blackboard!

Ninehigh - 6/9/09 at 09:52 PM

Would blackboard paint go over car paint?

HAHA! problem is people can write on it without you realising.

I used to drive a reliant rialto when I lost the use of my left arm in a bike accident for a few months, I didn;t notice but one of the lads int he office stuck a laminated poster on the off side of my car.

Trotters Inderpendant Traders, except he made the first letters of each word about 100 x the size of the rest of the word.

So I drove round for days with TIT on the side of my car.

My nan noticed it!

Hehehehehehehehehehe

They'd only be able to write on it with chalk, and I'd rather them smear their name in money poo than do it with a key!

Tell us more about this casting?

Is it is a DIY job for the untrained?
