Fellas,
The putty on a few of my windows has seen better days and i am off this week and hope to get a few exterior jobs done before winter.
I have never replaced putty before but have heard many horror stories about it.
Is there any new synthetic ina tube type putty or it is all in the tin type stuff still?
What tools do i need to do it with and what sort of drying / curing time is required before painting?
Cheers

Arbolite is a synthetic putty link
Ive only every used linseed putty. It was easy to apply, and seemed to last a long time.
What are the horror stories you have heard?
What are the horror stories? Putty is easy stuff to use. Just take off the old stuff and then push in some new stuff (be careful because the end of
the pin nails are sharp), apply it with a spatula etc etc. take extra care in the corners etc etc.
I always cover the windows with a film whilst the putty dries as sometimes animals (I suspect birds but not sure exactly) pick off the putty,
presumably for the linseed oil....
I think my last tin said leave 2-3 weeks before painting
