Was concerned to see that their new hire bikes are secured by what must be a 200mm spike sticking out over the front wheel - deffo not SVA
friendly.
Wonder how long it will be before a pedestrian's impaled and they decide it's not such a good idea?
Cheers, Pewe

Is it me being negative or will all that just not work and is just a waste of money?
£8 and you have to pedal and get run over by horses, trams, buses, cars etc..or just jump on a tram for a couple of quid....hmmm...
Just come back from the South of France and i saw Bluebikes. These are the same concept as the blackpool ones, except they're only 1 euro per day, or 5 for a week...bargain. To hire one, you put the bike code into a touch screen thingy and your mobile number. They then text you with the combination for the lock. A brilliant and very popular system with about 10 pick up / drop off points around Nice city centre.
Cambridge had a green bike scheme years ago , a load of bikes were recycled(forgive the pun), painted green and available for anyone to use . Think most of them ended up in the Cam in just a matter of days
just had a few days in london with the wife and bin lids one of the high lights of the trip was a guided bike tour by these

if you've not been on a bike for a while you forget how much fun they are
Gutted...
When you said "non SVA friendly spike on the front" I had imagined...
...how soon till someone gets hurt by it...I should imagine by the first couple of pints/lines/digs, unless they slip on the sick encrusted pavement
or discarded kebab on the way to score their chosen drug
I bet they will have to have a rescue boat equipped with bike racks and vats of WD40 equivalent on standby at kicking out time

Rob

Is the spike the reason part of the funding came fron the NHS? WTF?
