What are you sewing that needs something so heavy ? We sewed a vinyl tonneau cover with an ordinary £5 car boot sewing machine using a leather needle and it was no problem. My niece recently bought a new machine which will sew 8mm of leather together.

my usual machine is just not hacking it.

I think a normal industrial machine might be all you need, instead of the walking foot the it uses the needle to pull the material..

One other option is to lift the foot in the you machine and manually feed the fabric.. No idea if this will work, but other half has used this method for leather ect..
