OT.. Making a 12v battery
prawnabie - 24/9/09 at 10:39 AM

Hi guys.

I am going karting again in a couple of weeks and wanted to take my bullet camera attached to my helmet with a mic and mini MP4 recorder.

I need some way of powering the 12v bullet cam and 12v microphone. There may be a simple solution to it but I cannot see it! I have looked in the maplins catalogue to no avail.

Does anyone know a solution or something I can make that will fit into my pocket and power the cam and mic for an hour or so?

Thanks

A 10 cell AA or AAA battery holder from maplins possibly or even your local model shop.

in the past I have used 8aa battereis connected together end to end to give 12V..

Just use silver foil and duct tape... takes about 15 mins to put together

4th one down: -

Or they will also generally work with a 9v PP3 battery, albeit for not as long as 8xAA.

An 8AA battery box is 99p at Maplin. A set of alkaline cells will give way over an hours use, probably closer to 10 hours. Use a 10AA box if you want to use NiMh rechargeable cells.

A small 12v sealed lead acid battery is another possibility. A little more expensive but rechargeable of course.
