Why is it? - Money

Why is it that when you are desparately trying to save money, you find you need to spend more of it?

It doesnt help that i have to use the astra to go to college and no matter what i do, i can only get 36mpg by driving uber-economically (i get 32 driving normally) and now that the locost is running, i find i have spent £50 in the last 3 days and trying to resist spending the £200 needed so i can drive it.

Oh well, got that off my chest. Il get back to my piano

You think 36mpg is poor economy? You wait until that thirst Jag engine starts mainlining your wallet

speedyxjs - 26/9/09 at 07:26 PM

The Jag will do just over 30 on the same journey despite weighing twice as much and having double the cc

If you need money, sell the piano?

Confused but excited. - 26/9/09 at 07:50 PM

When we had an Astra we used to get 28mpg and that was from a brand new 1.4, L reg.
We found that using a fuel additive we bought off a mate selling Amway stuff (yeh, laugh all you want) we got 50 mpg. Not bought anything off him since we moved, so don't know if they still sell it but if they do...get some. Bloody brilliant stuff.

what do you need £200 for? the prop? i forget who i got mine from, either bailey morris or D&F, and mine was £130 lest year.

ok, so not free, but worth buying, as it'll get it driving!

Ive been amazed how well we have been economising recently. However i get a bt of pocket money and all of a sudden its gone. I can only presume that we are economing a bit too much and some ssential spends are already waiting in the wings, however before the pocket money came along ive buried head in sand to ignore them!

My girlfriend went from getting 450miles out of a tank in her 1.0 Polo to 520miles just by putting the tyres up to the max in the handbook!

Cheers,
James

Run your tyres harder as james says works wonders. Thats what taxi's do.

Went to the mile of triumpths yesterday in my locost with the club which is near great yarmouth. My locost did a tank and a bit of fuel to get there and back which is 110 miles from my house round trip. Normally it would have quarter left after a trip like that. I was giving it some beans though. Thats got a 6 gallon tank. 18mpg!

My bmw 525tds does about 35.
