If you can back the mixer right up to the base then £90 to £100 is possible, just phone arround.

Hi all
My wife has given me permission to buy a steel garage from Argos (mainly because her classic beetle is rusting at the back of the house and nothing to
do with my locost languishing in a rented garage a mile down the road).
My question is how cheap can I get the garage base done. The access to the back of my house is very good so we could easliy get a mini mix lorry up
there. Someone has told me its about £90 a cubic metre but thats just some bloke I work with guessing at it.
Anyone in the Manchester area had there's done? How much did it cost?
I know I can phone around and google but there is nothing like someone saying yes I had it done by so and so and they were great or don't use
them if they were the last concrete supplier on earth. Plus you get the remember to cost for x y and z that you hadn't thought of or make sure
you do a, b , c or it will crumble to dust.

buy a cheap mixer from machine mart, cement, sand and ballast from builders merchant, make it yourself. dead easy, even i can do it

£90 per cubic meter is about average I would say - you may even get it a bit less - make sure you tell them its cash and you dont need a "ticket

your sub base you should be able to get for free - just check things like free ads / gum tree etc.
I have done it both ways. we bought two 6.5 cube loads and it came out at about 90 quid/cube iirc
you can do it with a mixer, but it needs to be a biggish one. We had one guy feeding the mixer constantly with a big shovel, 1 guy on a constant
circuit with the barrow and 2 guys spreading and screeding. Took about 6 hrs

Yup i agree with the other guys I've done it both ways and mixing it yourself is only worthwhile if you are doing 5+ meters to justify hiring a
large diesel mixer - these electric diy ones are just for the occasional morter mix.
Consider putting rigid insulation under the concrete before you lay it it makes one heck of a difference to the comfort during the winter. I went
further and threw a few coils of plastic water pipe in and coupled it to the house central heating. I know it adds to the cost but you really do
extend the usability plus stuff does not rust cos the background heat keeps the humidity low
