Further to my thread a few days ago about mt duratec engine rattle -

I had a bit of a play and it seems that activating the air con or switching on significant electrical devices (heated screen etc) seems to bring on
the rattle. Still only at idle though. Turn the a/c or screen off, and blip the throttle and let it return to idle and it goes away.
Does this lend weight to the idea of it being belt tensioner/water pump bearing? Or does it suggest something else?

it will be the aux belt tensioner common fault fit a new aux belt as well
Assuming both air con compressor pulley and alternator run off the same belt then it's something on that same belt that doesn't like the
extra load caused by them absorbing power.
I'd use the 'stick' method or a stethoscope to identify which component it is.
Air con compressor, alternator, power steering pump and water pump are all on the same pulley. It is one mutha of a belt!

im going to bet its the aux pulley,
if its anything like fiat, happened on my punto, any electrical demand would bring on a loud clicking noise
Had this on an Astra, it also happened when the revs dipped below idle speed, like when you're pulling away.. If that's the case you're probably just hitting a frequency...
Sounds like the water pump or a tensioner or idler to me.
That is a small belt. The ones on a duratorq transit/ convoy is litterally 9 ft long when cut..
