X-factor RANT
nib1980 - 5/10/09 at 09:20 PM

I hate the X factor, absolutley loathe it.

Kind nowadays are obsessed with celebrity, and "this is the most important thing in the world" etc etc

I went to uni for 5 years, got a 1st in my degree, worked dam hard all the time, go to work at 6am, get home at 7pm. designing safety systems for cars that no doubt save someones life every dam day.

do i get a thank you, a million pund contract.

worse than that anyone with an ounce of sense can see Simon cowell has his fingers in eveypie to do with the show, and is clearly choosing the most marketable "product" (in fairness well done to him for exploting so many foolish people)

when will Kids and people realise you only get some where with hard work

AARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

P.S my spelling is terrible I am an engineer!

Elvis Costello was asked what he would do if he was starting his career in todays 'x factor/idol culture', his answer.......

"I'd be up the clock tower with the rifle"

MakeEverything - 5/10/09 at 09:30 PM

Just go with it. It keeps the missus distracted while you drag engine parts to the dining room table to work in the warm......

In all fairness, i like the music but youre right about the philosophy of the show.

Good luck to Simon Cowell though. Id love to have lunch with him, i reckon he'd be quite interesting to talk to.

I vote with my feet - well, sort-of - you know what I mean!

I don't watch:

X-Factor
Celebrity Come Dancing
Big Brother
etc.
etc.

I don't/won't even talk about them in the office or pub... er - hang on... except this once. I do tend to ridicule people who follow them avidly, at every opportunity.

I have the same attitude to celebrity football players too... unfortunately I work in an office full of footie fanatics.

Yes it's got to be one of worst programmes on tv. Watching Top Gear wi Simon Cowell it appears him and Jezza should swap jobs. Cowells the faster driver yet Jezza's got great taste in music.

splitrivet - 5/10/09 at 11:07 PM

Theres an easy cure, just turn the TV off and walk away.
Cheers,
Bob

James - 5/10/09 at 11:58 PM

Just don't watch it mate!

In fact, ditch TV altogether! My girlfriend and I agreed not to have TV when we bought our place. There are so many better things to do than watch TV!

Oh, and you save £130 a year on TV licence too!

We watch DVDs but then we're 'choosing' to watch something we really like rather than flicking on the idiot box and rotting ones brain to the likes of Jeremy Kyle!

Cheers,
James

All i use my TV for is watching TG, F1 occasionally the news.

I cant stand f***ing X factor. They seem to vote off all the good singers (very few) early and keep the s**t ones

I agree it's just cheap tabliod TV, but doesnt the first part of your argument contradict the last bit?.

Personally I think there's a connection between your job and the show in the audition stages. I don't watch it but the few bits I've seen, when channel hopping during ad' breaks, are a bit like watching a car crash; It makes you cringe but it's hard to look away from the carnage!

firstly I don't watch it for the obvious reason.

but on the radio last week, they did comparison of what kids wanted to be when they grow up, now and 10 years ago.

10 years ago it was vet, nurse, teacher.

now it is footballer, pop star.

to kick a ball or sing doesn't require a lot of brain power, in fact, on the contrary in many cases it is a bonus.

but in reality they end up flipping burgers at MacD.

Not yet but no doubt sooner or later you will

Ninehigh - 10/10/09 at 09:06 AM

I heard last week they pre-screen everyone and filter out the ones that are "OK" so all you see are the great ones and the horrible ones...

And they say the freak shows stopped?

Oh and fingers in pies? Cowell owns everyone that applies...
