Lost Licence Replacement
liam.mccaffrey - 7/10/09 at 11:26 AM

I have misplaced my driving licence (both parts) and I'm going to the states on a driving holiday in 20 days How long have people been waiting for them to be replaced??

I going ring now and see what they say.

I renewed my photograph/licence last month. I had both parts, sent them in with an acceptable photo and basically caused them no reason to have any grief. It took 2 weeks.

It came back with my motorcycle entitlement still on it!!!!!!!! This is not always the case it seems (MCN).

They claim within 10 working days as their target
Online is quicker allegedly

Online and if you have a new style UK Passport ( with the photo printed ) they use a copy of this for your driving Licence. Cost me £20 and was with me within 5 working days.

According to their website they "aim to send documents within 15 working days"

Cutting it a bit fine.

Give them a ring and see if the do an emergency service like the passport office.

Agree got mine within a week, and it had all my entitlements correct, went from paper to photo using passport too.

Bet you find the old one 20mins before the new one drops through the letterbox

I lost my counterpart before (didn't use it for 2 years then couldn't find it for a theory test) and mine arrived 3 days after I applied online for it.

Did you pick up an International Licence while you were there? Most mericans won't know about it, but you just might find one wearing a uniform that does.

The DVLA took forever to get my license back to me, I still dont have it now. If your hiring a car abroad the DVLA will fax a copy of your details to the necessary hire car centre. This worked for me last week in Cyprus. Only thing is a small fee of £5.
