Was a big thread about this on PH where the chap didnt want to go to the police... but they came and found him in the end after watching the video on youtube!

And no.. I dont trust anyone to go anywhere near my cars...ever.... have had no good experiences........

I wont even let my TVR go for an MOT without me watching..lol

If it was me I’d simply hand that recording over to the police

Shamoan! I'd hand it over to the rozzers....

Last time I heard about this thing happening the lads cosworth had been crashed by a spotty 18yo car valeter........and the garage didnt want to pay up he had only put it in for a service)

There's absolutly no excuse for that (speaking as a "local friendly garage". They deserve everything that can be thrown at them.

edit... Where's that smiley come from? I didn't put it there!

That's really taking the p*ss under the guise of going for a road-test.
I had a similar experience with a garage in Iver except I'd decided to walk about a mile to the local station. Sitting enjoying the sunshine outside whilst waiting for the train I was underwhelmed to see my car pull up at the local newsagent and one of their mechanics stroll in to buy newspapers, fags and sarnies.
Needless to say they didn't get my business again!
Cheers, Pewe

Put the se7en in for MOT, when I picked it up the trip had been zeroed, but I had noted the mileage, it had done eleven miles, Hmmmm! will stand and wait for it next time at a different MOT station. Cheers Ray

i'm fairly sure when my fiesta went in for another attempt at repairing the boot unlock unit, whilst i was waiting for the car to come back from a road test (for the boot) they picked up 3 points on my behalf, but had no way to prove it

I only trust my current MOT garage as he is a kit car owner himself.
Some time ago i took my old Porsche into a local tuner to fit a new head gasket and to replace my fuel tank, when i got it back one of the front wheels had a big piece missing from the alloy rim, they blamed a delivery driver who they said ran into it, "oh yes i bet they did" however they did have to send it away to get the wheel repaired though.

So basically i dont trust any stranger to work on any of my cars or bikes for that matter.

Edited to say would you put your life or a family members life in the hands of a complete stranger?

Mike

I use a garage once a year for MOTs, everything else, I do myself.

The MOT tester is a friend and a racer with properly quick cars and no need to want to drive any of my crap.
