Nissan micra engine management light ?
Andybarbet - 11/10/09 at 04:00 PM

Hi,

My neighbour had a small prob with his 2002 Micra, problem now sorted and all working well but the engine management light is permanently on ? Is there an easy trick to reset it without the need for a trip to the main dealer ?
I know a few years back i had a similar thing on a Vauxhall and a friend sorted it with a simple few steps on the ignition switch on/off a certain amount of times, anyone know if a similar thing exists for Micra's ?

Regards Andy

If the fault is actually cleared it may reset (if the fault is actually fix) after it has been started and driven x times for y miles if not it will need to be cleared down with a fault code reader.

Any petrol car after 2001 should be fully EOBD compliant so a basic OBDII/EOBD fault code reader such as the Memoscan U480 that will do the job start at just over 20 pounds. See ebay item 130325528147

The U480 is a a good basic tool I don't know the seller but plenty other to choose from on Ebay

A much more useful diagnostic tool is the U581 which is what I currently use. The U581 gives live and freeze frame data which are very useful in diagnosing faults but that model costs about £65

I have a U480 for sale. £15 including p & p. Works fine, I just upgraded to a more sophisticated one!

Finally bumped into my neighbour today and he said that the light went off after the 1st trip this week.

Thanks for all the replys and offers of help.
