OT - I need a new phone....
mcerd1 - 15/10/09 at 12:21 PM

I need a new phone and I'm due an upgrade now (£30/m orange)
but I don't really like the looks of the ones I'm being offered

I've got a nokia N95 at the moment and its ok, but some thing a bit smaller with less features would be better

so any suggestions are welcome, it needs to:

1- be Free on £30/m contracts or less
2- Have a MP3 player with 3.5mm headphone socket
3- Not a touch screen
4- Good battery life, especially for the MP3's
5- have a minimum of 16Gb of storage (micro SD is ok for this, I've already got the card)
6- some kind of passable/ basic camera (2MP+), with a flash for preference

internet browser is a bonus, but only if its got wi-fi (cause I'm not paying for the data)

any thoughts ?

i love my sony c905

1- don't know
2- mp3 player (there is a hands free attachment that comes with it that you plug 3.5mm headphones into, so not into the actual phone itself)
3- not touch screen
4- battery seems as good as any other
5- not sure about max storage on cards, but is a memory stick micro card, not SD
6- 8.1 mp cam, with proper flash and led light

internet, wi-fi, GPS all inc
also, you can get a free useful spirit level app for it.

don't know how it compares to size with n95

Blackberry curve 8900, i love mine. Can be sync'd with itunes or how ever you want to store your music, 3.2mp camera, 3.5mm jack, email, internet, wifi, battery lasts 2 days even with all the emails and browsing. And the full qwerty keyboard is a joy to use, far better than the horrible touch screen phones.

I know someone who had one of those

the blackberry doesn't look too bad, the boss just got one so I'll se if I can nick it from him to try it

an mate of mine's got a sony W995 and it didn't look too bad either but I haven't really used one - anyone got one of these?

the easiest option for me would be to stick to the nokia's, N96's and N97's are more complecated than I'd like (but do have loads of memory)
I've found a couple that would fit the bill - the 5730 and 5630 but they arn't being offered on any contrats that I can find (and I don't want to buy one outright at ~£200 )

the nokia E75 is almost the same as the 5730 (minus the music keys) but I'm not sure if its any good - anyone got one ?

I got a W995 last week.

Very happy with it - I upgraded from K850i.
Very intuative phone ( especially if you've had SE before).
Loads of gadgets I'll probably never use.
I wanted a good camera phone - 8.1 Mp
