Can anyone give me a rough idea of the electric window mechanism on a ford focus? One of my friends is having trouble (window will not come up and it
making a nasty noise while trying) and I have never seen inside a modern door
Thanks chaps and chapesses
here's the lifter -
probably best to remove the door panel and see if the glass is still free on even still sitting in the runners or even that the cables actually
threaded round the pulley’s. Plus you can then tell if the motor is making the noise.
worst case scenario you can always unbolt the lifter and jam the glass up with a piece of wood to hold the window closed like my old cortina

I had 2 of these fail. It is normally the wire getting tangled up.
Motor, glass and sliders were OK but needed new mechanism from scrappies.
A bit fiddly to replace.
Just discovered the wire is broken on mine too, can you not just replace the wire or is it just a total replacement?
Replaced both fronts on our old focus, complete walk in the park in my opinion, second one was 40 minutes from "are you going to fit that
regulator, or sit on yer arse all day" to "get the kettle on, that's it done", just remember not to let the glass drop into the
door, I was lucky it didn't break.
I've heard you can just replace the wire, proper locost style, but you must get the lengths spot on, and if your wires are stretched you
don't have a good pattern.
