Has anyone looked at the buy to let motorhome market??? Realistically other than the race weekends i'd probably only use a motorhome once or twice a year, and as the missus isn't interested in race weekends then i don't have a leg to stand on when trying to convince her we need an expensive one, and to be honest i can't even convince myself having all that money tied up in something that sits on the drive 95% of the time. Secondly the only way she would ever actually go in one is if it was a nice one, not some tatty thing from the 80's (which i would be quite happy with for race weekends, well apart from most of them couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding let alone a trailer), so that knocks out the cheap option. So i have been looking at the buy to let market (through motorholmes.co.uk), looking at the cost and their potential forecast of earnings you could have a brand new 6 birth mooveo and the potential income would almost cover the costs. Best of all i can do it though my limited company as a business and claim all the VAT back on the purchase and tax on all the running costs, plus you can get claim back 20% of the value as a yearly cost as depreciation. Biggest question is, is the rental market that good that i could hope to rent it out for say 15 weeks of the year?????
God how much that reminds me of a Barratt time share (which is not good btw) but with wheels
if they are quoting you the income potential, I would half it to get a more realistic figure. Surely the insurance on something like that is going to be astronomical, and what if it is severly damage, who will cover your loss of earnings.
humm, I would think it's risky, if you are in the business of setting up a hire company then fine, other wise think about how much ware and tear
there will be with 15 weeks or more a year use by people that might not treat it with the same respect as you...
Not sure how easy it is to hire them out either, also how do you go about getting insurance bet that's an expensive..
Dan
Off course you could turn this on it's head why not hire out someone else's

mmmm good point but I reckon its different if you are the doer rather than the done too
TBH I thnik you are dreaming - I can see the $$$ signs appearing in fornt of your eyes.
The only people to make money from this are those companies telling people they can may money from renting m-homes out.
What about renting one for the race meetings?

Do not discount the bed in the back of a Transit option, it's pretty locost.
The pre-2000 vans are gutless, but very cheap... it'll serve as a shed when not in use.

I've seen the future and it spells Bongo Friendee. With your family, could you not make the missus use it every day?

But think of all the unrestricted pub nights you could have. Sleep in comfort in the pub carpark...![]()

Be very careful with that. The offence is drunk in charge, not drunk while driving. Theoretically if you are walking towards it with keys in your pocket you're liable to a year ban and large fine, same with sleeping in it.
Guy at work was done a few years back just going to get his coat so he could do the long walk home.
