Just fitted a new battery today after car being stored with a dead battery for 6 months. I messed around for about 20 minutes trying to get the alarm
disarmed (re-synchronising alarm with key fob), started the car and got it all warmed up. Turned it off and it wouldn't start again, the keyfobs
wont turn the alarm off, batteries in fobs are fine, recently renewed.
I've spent the rest of the afternoon trying with another brand new key fob but they wont synchronise!! Any ideas??
Someone is coming from France tommorow to view the car and i am a bit p****ed off now
Cheers

Your answer will be found here:

(try technical section)
On Google it says press both buttons on key fob till led gose out then press large button
this is if key fob is out of synchronise
Yes that is what i do every time i change the car battery or it goes flat.
I phoned lotus today and they said the same thing but it isn't working!
I suspect if you disconnect the car battery for 20minutes it will start and run until you stop it then won't start again until you repeat the
procedure.
It sounds like the engine ECUs is out of sync rather than an alarm problem.
ECU, and security ecu need realigned to each other and the engines flywheel tooth pattern.
Used to be a dealer only thing but most auto locksmiths can do it now or any garage with the correct Rover pod for the Sykes ACR scanner.
Or you can send the MEMS ecu away to get it neutered.

or I think you can bypass the alarm by connecting a wire between two of the terminals on the white alarm plug in the boot. I think its terminals 6
& 3 (or could be two) this is what the racers do to stop the system cutting in during a race meeting.
I found it on google, if you get stuck u2u me and I will look at my elise.
