My wife has just called, she has lost the car keys, ford focus there was only one set! Car is parked in Milton Keynes shopping centre, we are not in the AA or RAC. Any ideas of what to do? call local dealer, locksmith? set fire to it?
call a local recovery firm i guess. because even if a lock smith can open the doors, she still won't be able to drive it.
local recovery firm should be able to pick the car up and drop it at your house easy enough.
don't know any round your way obviously, but up here we have auto-tec, armadale autos etc. small indepandant companies. don't know what the
cost would be though

Dont the AA offer to sort you out immediately if you join?? Guess it might get her into the car but maybe not a good thing as there's no way to re-lock it unless the key is in the car. I guess it'll be a call to Ford on Monday with the VIN / reg number to get a new key asap.
Find a hoodie to gain entry and bust ignition lock for you ..tow her home..then fit megasquirt

I joined the AA some years ago but they would nt sort me out for a couple of days after joining.
I did use them a few weeks ago thought to get some keys from inside a friends micra as its the person not the car who is signed up.
They used thin bags (like blood pressure ones) and put them in the top and sides of the door and then pumped them up enough to get a stick thingy
inside the door.

A good car locksmith will be able to read the tumblers in the lock to cut a new key, and program it into the car.

Looks like you were right! after retracing her way around the shops without sucess she found them hidden away somewhere!

FYI the AA will come out to you when you are broken down but you will be charged at least £49 on top of a years worth of cover. Your situation is an absolute nightmare for patrols as most of the time we can't get our vans in the car parks due to height. Getting into a focus is easy enough but getting the steering lock off and getting it outside to recover it is another matter.
My dad lost the key to our XJ and all we had to do was take the log book to our local dealer who made us a key on the spot for about £30, then we had
to get a bloke out to program a fob for us and that was it. (We had a spare key but is wasn't for our car and the bloke that came out reprogramed
the fob from that one.)
Now that you've found it, go to Ford and get a second one cut.

Glad you sorted it without any cost!
Maybe time to ziptie the key to the loom somewhere with the steering lock loop in range and get a couple of std keys cut?
Were on the last key for the BMW and am starting to think along those lines if we don't get shot of it soon
I guess if going that route you will have to fit an aftermarket immobiliser as I'm not sure how the insurance company would feel about the
immobiliser being permanently dissarmed, or having a fully functioning key left in the car, even though it could be well hidden in the loom

The key will have a chip in it so you'd need to see a specialist anyway to get one that does more than open the doors, you could get one cheaper but doing it through Ford would be easier.
