From pistonheads:
Sat Tax
If that arrives here at those rates, it'll cost me £130 a month to go to work.
If someone made an electoral promiss to prevent this they'd surely win a general election?
would be a shame if the tracker in the car lost power for some reason... blown fuse etc?
what happens if you go into a tunnel or are in a city with little view of the sky?

cover the car in lead?????
You just know that if this came to the UK, fuel prices wouldn't drop and there would still be a road tax disc of some sort to pay for, so it
would be purely another charge on the motorist!
Its going to cost transport firms a fortune, 8 or 10 cars on one transporter..

Grrr what is wrong with fuel tax... Taxes per CO2 output, perfect!
Hopefully it will not be retrospective, more reason to keep the old car on the road..

sorry but toll roads are the way forward! every time I get near Birmingham I have the choice of being stuck in a queue between junctions 12ish to 7ish
or paying £5 to go on the toll road where I can have a relaxing drive past Birmingham and stop for a wee at one of the more pleasant services on the
M6..... 8 times out of 10 there isn't much of a choice to make! OK on a daily basis the £5's would add up but otherwise......
Apart from that forget spending the money on road widening b*llocks - spend the same money on railway lines next to the motorway instead to get at
least half the wagons off the road that spend half an hour blocking two lanes of the motorway overtaking each other at 60 and 62 miles an hour
respectively
Yes I know I'm about to get flamed by lorry drivers but to be honest I'm not all that bothered! and yes I realise that
wagons would still be needed to take the goods from the freight depots to their end destination blocking up towns and A roads etc - but it would be a
huge step forward in getting the country moving properly again!
And no, I realise it wont ever happen

If it was about pollution they would be doing more to get frieght onto trains and off Lorries (A huge percentage of which are foreign lorries with
foriegn drivers who bring their own foreign fuel with them and thus pay no tax, And Park on public roads opposite lorry parks to steal £5 from their
own employers). The government do this kind of crap to squeeze money out of us, and there is no alternative (Theres nowhere within a hours walk that I
could get a bus from that wouldn't take me somewhere I could walk to quicker, and the train is a total Joke, it would cost me about 4 times as
much money to get to london and back on a train compaired to the car and takes about 4 times as long, plus I have to go via London to get to anywhere
futher away than brighton, and all thats assuming there's someone to actually sell me a ticket).
Are there any HGV drivers on Locostbuilders?

i would like to see everyone bycott it, by removing any such system from the car. if everyone did it then it would cause chaos. they couldn't possibly prosecute every driver in the whole country for it![]()
I wonder how long it would stay connected.

If this comes in I'm off to live abroad (again).
if its about polution, how much is made by launching a fleet of satelites? and all the fancy stuff theyre made of. driving is simply becoming to expensive, in a country that fails to invest in any other means of transport.
I only asked because someone else said they thought they'd get flamed by them.
There are many things at work here, this is in preparation when the fuel is electric or hydrogen, they cannot tax the same way so per mile is an easy
option for them. The reliance on oil from the most unstable regions is a concern, Russia has already demonstrated by cutting of gas to the Ukraine
they are willing to use blackmail. There is also an EU grand plan to get more people off the roads onto public transport and the satelite system will
also enable them to know your every movement.
We should boycott it but we will not, any who try to organise such an event will suddenly find themselves like the haulier who led the fuel protest.
He suddenly had every agency on his back from the Vat man to Vosa until he had no business, coincidence, yeah right! They can use the laws recently
passed to stop any gathering with ease. There will be those exempt from the charges, MPs, Royalty probably those on benefit and you and I will be
stuffed. I just hope a stray metiorite will knock it out before it goes any further.
we should have a public crucifixion of whoever invented that. then start on the politicians.
thats just wrong.

surely it just uses GPS satalites already in the sky?
I live in Holland and I am totally NOT looking forward to this system being introduced.
Be aware! The next step is automated speeding tickets using the same GPS!
Sadly the governments think the public and especially motorists are pushovers and will continue to foorce this sort of cr@p on us until we make a
stand about it.
Its gone beyond a joke, and is solely about money making now from something which a lot of us have no choice about, I live 17 miles from work, to get
there by bus means 2 changes and 1.5 hours, even then I wouldnt get there on time. No local train station either.
Perhaps the most annoying
thing is the fact the money isnt ploughed back into improving infrastructure and just seems to be spent on implementing new ways of catching motorists
out or bailing out w@nkers in suits.
