Blackberry advice please
mookaloid - 15/12/09 at 08:20 PM

Hi Folks,

My 16 year old daughter wants a blackberry curve for Christmas.

Question is if I buy one off ebay will it work fully with a PAYG SIM card?

Cheers

Mark

Not all the blackberry's are 3G and they don;t all have touch screens.

Should work PAYG but not sure who all the DATA bits work over PAYG lot of blackberry's used PUSH mail.

Look at a vario II HTC TYTN full touch and 3G

You'll need a data allowance for it. It will work but email won't be pushed to it when it arrives and the Internet won't work.

Orange and O2 both offer PAYG Blackberry but I imagine it'll be one of those mandatory payment each month PAYG

O2 do a bolton it wold seem for PAYG to support BB's. It's £2.65 a MB though...

If she browses the web a lot.. Yikes the bill

I think the offer excludes BB's Martin - just trying to find evidence though!

Orange is £5 a month for the blackberry service which give you unlimited email push and gprs for web things like face book, bebo, twitter and other thing that kids want.

I couldnt be with out my blackberry, its my office.

As per normal there is a fair usage allowance, as i use mine for work and cain it, 80 emails a day, and surfing the net on my phone i still only pay £5 a month for the service.

I have the same, excellent value! Sadly it's only available on contracts though - not PAYG

Thanks guys - so it would seem that it's safer to get a new one then?

The email push thing is part of the BB experience and it might not be possible on a PAYG sim then?

Orange and O2 and T mobile sell them with a prepaid package but it's costly!

i will give you some advice. take the money and throw it in the bin. you are doing the same thing if you get the blackberry.

i have had two now and they are crap. eventually settled on an nokia e71 which seems ok now its had a software update.

just go and get her an i phone she will love you forever
