Rehydrating
Benzine - 29/12/09 at 10:36 AM

Just been up all night being sick, like all night. I lost a hell of a lot of liquids and now, after my hour or so of sleep, I seriously need to get liquids inside me (huh huh)

Cba to google, seriously weak and LCB was up on the screen

Lucozade/gaterade? Just water (warm?) I'm being a moping man in bed and I have servants who will go shopping for me. I sort of win.

i know how you feel, spent all yesterday in bed after being up all the night before. Just loads of water and the odd cup of tea. Today feel much better. Hope you get over it soon....

Thanks This morning I'm better, the worst of the bug is over/pwnt but I'm really weak and nausious which is rubbish. And I don't like tea I fail as an englishman

lucozade doesnt replace lost salts. You need satchets of rehydration salts, from the pharmacy.

Or a full english breakfast.

morcus - 29/12/09 at 11:10 AM

Flat lemonade will do you good, but it has to be normal and not diet.

cd.thomson - 29/12/09 at 11:23 AM

dioralyte or equivalent tesco generic. Tastes manky but will make you feel better

Yep, grease and salt is what you need - Bacon. Mmmmmm, salty.

got a rehydration salty sachet thing. Tastes a bit wrong but not bad got a thumping headache now

sucksqueezebangblow - 29/12/09 at 12:15 PM

I've always found flat coke great for rehydration (full fat, not diet).

Jasongray5 - 29/12/09 at 12:34 PM

Powerade, looks horrible, tastes ok, works wonders, for hangover or sickness. Comes in blue red or yellow flavore

I've always found that plenty of tea and water at room temp works along with something like a Wellman vitamin supplement to replace the lost salts, minerals and boost vitamens.

Best ever hangover cure that have I found, is Lucozade Sport (still) at room temp.
As for Gatorade, I once bought a case of this, as I had seen it watching American football on the telly. Opened the first bottle, took a sip and realised instantly why the players pour it all over the coach.
IT'S SH1TE!
Gatorade?........... Gatorp1ss more like!.
All 24 bottles went down the sink.

Thanks for the help everyone. Oh I'm not hungover btw! Nasty bug that about 10 members of the family got. I'm still the same... everything I drink still, you know... exits the other end. Am I right to just leave it to sort itself out or can immodium be used?

BenB - 29/12/09 at 05:41 PM

Best thing for a hangover is an intravenous bag of dextrose

Not that anyone I've ever known has resorted to this whilst working in a hospital

but it does work apparantly. Accourding to a friends brothers nephew twice-removed.

Otherwise my hangover cure is

1) Paracetamol- headache
2) Peppermints- Sambuca breath
3) Plenty of fluid (slightly sugary)- rehydration
4) Peptobismal- for the belly

For a stomach upset I'd go for fluids. Although Dioralyte type stuff helps if you've been stuck on the bonzo for days and days (when your potassium starts getting depleted) for the first few days you just need fluids in biggish amounts.

Get well soon

I find Hydrogen Hydroxide best, but be careful it can be dangerous.

Missus doesn't believe in Immodium on the basis that if it's coming out that fast it's doing so for a reason. However might be worth taking a couple to stop the fluid loss if it's going for more than a day.
