I have a question about the length of studs in my Sierra hubs.

1) If I want to fit a set of alloy rims, should I fit longer studs than standard?

2) How long?

You should have full thread engagement on std open nuts, which IIRC is about 12mm.

As long as you have enough thread engagement there is no need to change the studs.

Normally you will need longer studs on cortina front uprights though as they have particularly short ones as std.

I used 63mm but they are a bit too long, but I can chop them to suit

depends on the alloys your fitting but on cortina hubs i found 63mm ones to be way too long and also have a longer unthreaded shoulder.
what worked for me was the 47mm ones
