Post Operation pains??
MK9R - 4/1/10 at 02:11 PM

I had my appendix out (open not key hole) 2 weeks ago tonight, all went well and withing 3 or 4 days i was off pain killers and just took a few paracetamol, and for the last 5 or 6 days not taken anything. But today i'm back at work sitting at my desk and starting to get stabbing pains around the wound area. Has anyone suffered anything like this???

just wondered if it was normal rather than making a prat of myself!!

will call them, but usual response is "go to A&E"

The problem is clearly being sat at a desk. in my expert opinion you need to spend several days tinkering with your car instead or at least untill your symptoms subside.

The clue is in the E in A&E, it stands for Emergency.
My question is; 'Why are you at your desk and not there?'

i had mines out 3 years ago. keyhole, followed by infection and massive weight loss and huge amount of intravenous and oral antibiotics. 3 weeks in hospital and 3 months off work (manual labour) I complained for a while to the doc after I was back about what felt like pulled muscles. I was told that theyd never be the same again and not be be doing anything that was too strenous on the stomach muscles.
All the same mate get it checked out ASAP

That's interesting as my girlfriend has had stomach muscle problems ever since having hers out with keyhole whilst in Canada on a skiing trip!
Something has stopped her being able to run any decent distance ever since and she ought to be running a lot for fitness for sport.

She had no infection issues and the scar has healed almost to not be visible.

As for the "not be be doing anything that was too strenous on the stomach muscles" she's on the GB Savate kickboxing team and also does Thai boxing so lots of situps and physical excercise around the body's core muscles is very important.

But 'co-incidentally' she hasn't been able to run since the surgery without lots of pain.

Cheers,
James

Even the old fashioned way it can get very painful after you get you appendix to be honest 30 years on after I had mine removed I still don't feel 100% comfortable.

My advice is seek advice; while the odds are it is nothing much seek advice.
