Can't got to work - so we're eating instead!
Jasper - 7/1/10 at 10:47 AM

Anybody else got into a bit of cooking ???

For breakfast I made drop scones with scrambled egg and smoked bacon, all covered in maple syrup

The wife has made the most incredible brownies, and I think I'm going for the big one later, suet jam rolly polly baked in the oven. And that will be washed down with mulled wine.

If it doesn't thaw soon I may not get out the door

Fozzie - 7/1/10 at 11:12 AM

Yeah..working from home......
Made a massive beef casserole yesterday from scratch ..... separated it into two, had good old fashioned beef casserole and creamed mash (home done) last night.....

Tonight, part 2 transforms into a goulash type creation, with home made dumplings, with home made sticky toffee pud and custard for afters .....

I just knew there had to be upside to this weather/doing tax returns.....

Jasp.....can you mail/u2u me that jam roly poly recipe please..... the one I got, takes for ever....t.i.a.....

...do you actually have taste buds

(also at work, but we've got loads of chocolate )

haven't worked out what I'm cooking tonight yet, but it could be chicken + chorizo risotto, lamb stew, leak + tattie soup, haggis or any other experimental combination of them (all from scratch of course)

and I've got a home made apple tart or I could make something with the pears/apples etc...
any recipes/suggestions ? (I've got most of the baking stuff you'd ever need)

Are you sure you weren't a dinner lady in a previous life, that all sounds deelish

Here's a link to a recipe, I like the idea of baking it as you get crispy/chewy edges, and it doesn't take hours to steam:

I'm in the office, brought a few other folk in too.

On site sandwich bar has run out of bread and other stuff, and the cheeky gits ask me if I'll fetch them some supplies....

So thanks this thread has made me even hungrier

My 12 year old son and I made a great Apple Crumble last night and tonight his mission will be, should he choose to accept it..... Baked Jam Roly Poly

Great Post and well timed.

Jasper....Thanks for that!

Yes, I had always 'steamed' so I will give the 'roasting' version a go!

A dinner lady in the past? ...well, I suppose so........in a way.. (in the past)...
What with 3 growing lads, 1 daughter and t'other half .... always hungry.... ..

Its my day off and I'm back in tomorrow but I've been trying to get the cat off a mates car this morning. No cooking for me absolutely hate it. Even making butties gets on my nerves so a trip to McDonalds for me earlier too and for the above post I dunno if I have taste buds, I only eat so that I don't die. It's a function just like going to the toilet!

Danozeman - 7/1/10 at 04:01 PM

MMMMM double suasage and egg mcmuffins mmmmmm. Had one the other day but couldnt taste it cos of the dreaded man flu.

Day off today to look after me 3 1/2 year old as wifes at work and normal baby sitters are all ill. We made 1/4 pounders with cheese and onions for dinner and then made corn flake cakes. MMMMMMM

Just trying to decide on chilli or spag bol for tea. Maybe followed up buy jam rolly polly or christmas pud as i have 3 left.

scootz - 8/1/10 at 04:21 AM

Are you suggesting you can taste sausage / egg mcmuffins when you don't have man-flu!?
