Life Insurance...

Anyone else up... ??? Can't sleep - have lightning rods shooting from my butt to my big toes!

Doing what I do best when I can't sleep... worrying about anything and everything! This morning it's life insurance.

I have had a policy in place for the last 5 years, but having seen recent media reports of the amount of failed claims due to seemingly insignificant information being missed out on the application... well, it's got me worried! Terrified actually as the thought of Mrs Scootz having to do without is my worst nightmare!

I have always filled out forms as honestly as I can, but I have no doubt that I will have innocently missed out things! Tests, dates, short-term illnesses - that sort of thing

I guess I'm probably paying £30 a month for no reason, so I suppose I really should cancel and start another where I'm comfy in the knowledge that I've told them EVERYTHING from periods of athletes foot to every pathetic sniffle!

I guess the question is... how do I arm myself with all the facts I will need cos there is no way I can remember the half of it!

Also, are there any insurance co's out there who will assess your medical records themselves and then proceed on that basis?

As always, thanks muchly!

If you speak to your doctor they should be able to release your medical records to yourself no problems (may charge an admin fee) and thnen you can either summarise or copy and send to the insurer.

Mind you, how usable they will be I'm not sure. I used to review medical records when I dealt with dodgy personal injury claims and doctors handwriting is generally shocking, it's not just a myth!!

Ive been wondering if it's possible to get a quote like you would with car insurance where you can get a quote on summat you dont have in order to find the cost. but by using false details, so the insurance database (im guessing there is one) doesnt get updated with a flag.

Male side of my friends family has a heredetary problem which his dad and brother both have. but this has just become apparent, so all insurance becomes null? we were chatting yesterday about trying this to get some idea of the new insurance costs for peace of mind...

Most insurance companies seem to work on the basis of, if its a pre-existing condition and you die from it then you are not insured, no matter how much you have paid them.

Make me think, why do we bother, we are alive and that condition is always fatal. I'm supprised that the insurance people haven't used that as an argument for not paying out.

I believe its worse than that according to the recent reports. If you miss anything off, they wont pay out even if its obviously nothing to do with your cause of death.

the only sure way is to purchase a canoe and build a secret compartment in your house.

It's just when you hear of poor sods who die in a car smash, but their life insurance doesn't pay out because when they review your medical notes, they find that you forgot to tell them about a sore pinkie you had when you were 4 years old!
