James - 21/1/10 at 05:15 PM

So fingers crossed I hear something soon, as I'm getting a bit desperate for some decent work!

Got another couple of recruiters looking for me too so hopefully get something soon.

Cheers,
James

My lad was made redundant just before Christmas, he applied for loads of jobs and has just got one starting next week, so good luck and keep applying but expect knock backs.

I've been on the 'dole' for 5 1/2 months now, sick and tired of sending cv off and hearing bot all.

Done me class 2 and have my induction at the co-op distribution centre tomorrow...

So, working for an agency cash down from £13 to £6

been out of work since early December. been looking every day since. have had a few letters back but mainly nothing. have done loads on the kitcar but it still doesn't get past the boredom.

the worst thing of all is having to queue up down the job centre every other week with all the scrotty tracksuit wearing scum and trying to convince some twat sitting at a desk on their own little power trip that im actively looking for a job.

all of this to get an insulting £60 a week. it makes me feel sick that i was paying over a grand in tax every month and they wont even help me out with council tax or my mortgage because i haven't got 5 kids and a drug addiction.

i know a couple that have never worked a day in their life but have 4 kids. they get £800 a month for rent, £100 a week to live off!! and to top it all off they don't have to pay council tax!!

Gotta be done.
- Been applying to some myself in the hope of finding somewhere to go once i graduate.

JCB who i did my placement have basically said that at the moment no, but get back at the end of march and we'll see if its picked up at all as there hoping it might once spring gets under way.

Who knows, other place ive applied is for a grad scheme with network rail.

Ash, council tax benefit and mortgage help doesn't depend on kids or drugs, it means tested so if your wife or partner works works or you have savingsshares other income over certain amounts then you won't qualify

Cheers

someone got it

according to the job seekers people the fact that my other half works automatically means we don't get any help regardless that she doesn't even earn enough to pay the mortgage.

what hacks me off is if you have nothing they give you everything, but if you actually get off your ass go to work pay tax and contribute to the system then you get nothing when you need it most.

good luck mate, fingers crossed!

So many people with nothing to give will sell their soul to get their dole money and then sit in front of the telly for another couple of weeks - or play golf with their bad backs. You can work for years to better yourself and your family just to be humiliated by some spotty oik ticking boxes to justify his existence to give you a quarter of what you'd get if you'd never worked.
Unemployment for a lot of people is a life choice because they can earn so much. If you are unfortunate enough to be put in this position, you suffer in so many ways

Guys, I haven't been in your position but i feel for you

Steve

i took a year out from mid 2008, spent 3 months in america, then came back to a receission, so been out of work till now, but been applying to USA for truck work and have got myself a season on the harvest till november, i'm waiting for visa and should ship out in march, part of the visa is that they pay the flight, and all the food and bedding while working, so the $2500-$4500 a month is in pocket, will be good, and i get my American HGV licence as well, i can't wait. hope to do it for a few years.

Good luck James, just tell them you'll kick their arses if they don't employ you
