Guys I remember years ago going on holiday to France and staying on a big campsite (with my friend and his family in their touring caravan) and there were families there who just rolled up and their big tent was aready up and waiting for them.

The tennts were big canvas affairs and were erected at the beginning fo the season and had different families in the week to week.

Are Eurocamp the only people that do this kind of holiday?

Any personal reccommendations of companies etc to use or book through?

Keycamp?

What we can tell you is camping in france was about ten euros per night with free hot water but cross the border into italy and the price rocketed to 15 and you had to pay 5 euro for hotwater...per shower.....or freeze

France is defo the place for camping as they were all spotless lots of municipal run ones as well as private.

We used to go with Eurocamp to France. Dead good but the Locost solution is to buy your own tent and camp at the same sites. After 1 year you have paid off the one-off costs.

The only problem was that I had to get a new car to fit all the stuff into!

We went with Vacansoleil last year albeit in a static caravan. They also do tents.

Very good and we thought a bit of a bargain.

(off to sydney in feb with five days in cairns and 3 days bangkok outbound and 3 days in singapore on the return)

Went to L'Etang de la Breche (next to Saumur on the Loire) last year, plenty of room and good, clean, facilities.

If you ring the office you can book your own pitch independently.
They also have Eurocamp and Keycamp tents and static caravans on site.

If you're in striking distance and have kids this place is a very entertaining (full) day out.

We book direct with Yelloh village, they own there own campsites and lease space to other concerns like Eurocamp et al.
We have been 5 years now first to Brittany, Guilvinec, drove down then last year to La Brasillia Roussillon - Canet Plage near Perpignan flew Ryan air, beaches are always just a walk away and on site facilities are very good.
