Mine 10 year old one expired mid last year and I need to travel within EU sometime in April, so how soon can I get a passport?
Do the post office still do these short term emergency ones?
I dont think its long waiting to get one now. I got mine back last year in about 3 weeks. So send off now and you should be fine!
didnt think post office did anymore, but if you look on the web site there are ways if travelling within the next 4 weeks, possible by going direct to a local (may be 100miles away) passport office
tomorrow is earliest, ring now for an appointment at you passport office, they don't do same day apps any more, then go spunk a load of cash,
wait 4 hrs and it's yours.
Did mine on the day of departure for Eurodisney last September,
HTH
if its a renewal - I think you can pay a bit extra to get it quicker - if you go to the nearest main passport office its even quicker (next day I
think)
a couple of years ago I got mine in less than 4 weeks
(first proper one with the interview and everything)

I got a new one at a passport office, £80 and a 3 hour wait which I used to go round the city (whichever city that was, I can't remember. Can't have been a very good one)
Two weeks tops, assuming your forms are all ok. You can have them check the forms at the psot office for a nominal fee, which saves massive delays if you have cocked it up somehow...
ok, so if push comes to shove, I can get one on the same day if I travel into Longdon.
..... still ploughing through the gov website .... and it says applications can be made on line - presumably a photo needs to be uploaded?
also biometric ones (iris scan?) - is this compulsory or what is the crack on those?
I am happy with a non bio paper one, thanks.
just got mine back it took three weeks, that was a straight forward renewal.
The closest one I could go to to get mine back the same day was Liverpool

Passport staff are on a 48-hour strike, according to this morning's news...
My last one came back in less than 2 weeks. The post office checking service is supposed to get it back soonest. Going to an office is very expensive.
