Board logo

locost window shutter
Benzine - 29/3/10 at 11:33 AM

I have an old leaded window on my motorhome and I want to make a wooden board to cover it up when in transit. When I've driven and parked up and I want light, it would be great to be able to push a button and the board would slide down and reveal the window. I know I could just get out and slide it by hand but a whirring sliding thingy would be much more awesome, eh?

Any ideas how to do this? Doesn't have to slide, it could swing out on a hinge if that makes it easier. It would have to run on a 12v system.

What about an electric window mechanism from one of the lifestyle pickup trucks? thinking about a long stroke for you....

Have it swing down to form a counter then serve bacon butties and mugs of tea in laybys from it

Apparently it is awesome

White plastic motorhome isn't my cup of tea. A horsebox that looks like a horsebox on the outside but is like a compact swiss chalet on the inside is my cup of TBH

Awesome, love the used pallet look on the built in furniture.....

7.5t delivery truck with tail lift is my idea of a motor home.

If I was rich a 26t ex fridge wagon would be ideal, huge box allready well insulated

I think it's pretty awesome. Though my missus would hate it.

Many years ago I considered buying a narrowboat and doing it up while living on it but life got in the way. Still hanker for the simple life sometimes.

Do you live in it full time or is it just for holidays? Looks kind of lived in

Oh I think the side window mechanism (either electric or manual) would be the way to go.

Try getting into a camping and caravan site with that.. bet they will not let you in (in fact that might the the case for most touring sites)? Hopefully you will be using it else ware...

Reminds me of a serial-killer's mobile torture dungeon.

No offence

At the mo we use it for WWOOFing around the UK, so while doing that it's lived in, when we're not using it we're at home and it's in storage.

So far we've been on two sites, one was run by a farmer, the other by a pub so they didn't mind. A proper hard core plastic fantastic site... yeah they wouldn't be that keen

That's pretty locost! Could have the shutter on runners with some nuts welded to a bracket with some threaded rod attached to a motor... idk Would need to keep it clean but it would make the most whirring noise ^_^
