Came home from Stoneleigh all fired up to get on with my build then got made redundant today.

I'll now have plenty of time on my hands to work on my car but no money to spare

Fuck man, I'm sorry.

Find some rich widow to live off and you have all the time and money you need to build 40 cars...

stephen_gusterson - 5/5/04 at 10:19 PM

bummer. good luck with the build and the job search!

I have been working for a company thats not been too hot for the last 3 years...... despite my best efforts!

Im hoping we will all get our first wage rise in 4 years next month!

Bummer,

Having worked for the same company for 18 years when I started my build, I've since been made redundant twice. Just meant I had to stop buying things for the duration.

Mind you I have to wonder if selection was based on "Let's get rid of that 2wat who builds cars."

Been there too many times - not nice - at all

Best of luck with getting sorted out with a new job, seriously. I know how much it can affect the sanity.

Sorry to hear of your redundancy - hope you find something soon!

paulbeyer - 5/5/04 at 11:16 PM

Thanks for the best wishes guys. It's not the first time it's happened to me either but it still feels shit. I'm going through the self pity / I'm inadequate feelings at the moment but I'll bounce back with a better job.

Bad luck, what do you do? I'm sure the people on here will look out for jobs for you if you let us know what you're interested in / location.

paulbeyer - 5/5/04 at 11:27 PM

I've done all sorts. This last job was a Telecoms test engineer for UMTS (3G) mobile networks. I am actually a qualified Land Surveyor. I really enjoyed the work but the pay is pitiful. Mind you I got involved in some interesting work acting as a consultant for the Police Accident Investigation Units and the RAF AI unit. I did the survey of the Chinook helicopter crash on the Mull of Kintyre and spent 6 weeks on the Fred West - Cromwell Street murder investigation.

I never was one to settle for a desk job.

All joking aside James you might be onto something here. If I sold my body by the pound I'd make a friggin fortune.
