Ahh man how can this happen now lol
prawnabie - 23/4/10 at 05:49 PM

Not been feeling right the last couple of days with headaches, tiredness and a bit of dizzyness. Went out for a meal last night and when I got back in the car after I was shivering that much I couldn't drive for 10 mins until the heater was blasting out hot air. Go home went to bed hoping to be ok in the morning for work.

Woke up this morning - as I looked in the mirror my arms, chest, back and face were covered in spots!!!! Doc came round and instantly said chicken pox and wrote me off till after the bank holiday.

Gutted now as I probably wont get to Stoneleigh and staffing levels at work are at a bare minimum as it is!! What am I going to do for a week if I can't get out?!?!?!

Anyone else had this in there 30's??

Shaun

Just hope that it doesn't develop into shingles...

I got it when I was 43

Not nice ! There were spots EVERYWHERE

liam.mccaffrey - 23/4/10 at 06:07 PM

Apparently I am quite likely to get again as I had all immunity wiped out when I had my bone marrow transplant. I had to have all my baby immunisations again

Eat lots of soup and watch the telly, thats my best advice. I was ill for a couple of months with a lung infection and couldn't go out side for very long (Had to have a purifier inside, out side air was like sand to me), thats what got me through, that and try doing something creative like drawing or writing.

chicken soup.

My lad is 14 months and just had tonsilitis at the same time as chicken pox or foot and mouth. Been a fun week!

Bicarbonate of Soda dissolved in a cool bath is great to relieve the itching. I got it when I was about 23 and I had spots in my mouth, up my nose, in my ears, you get the picture... Off work for 2 weeks.

Once the spots scab over, try very hard not to pick them as they will sometimes leave scars. Try to leave the scabs to come off on their own, especially on your face.

Good luck!
Craig.

Take a car battery and some locost parts, and you could do some electrolysis cleansing at the same time!!

I had chicken pox when I was 46 even though I had already had them as a child. The doctor said it was quite common to get them more than once.

You can go out as long as you dont come in to contact
with a few certain "risk groups".

Now... if your car is in the clear, i'd say
a week in the garage should be fairly acceptable.

I cant sympathise about the itching I have just been told by the doc I suffer from Photoreactive dermatitis. Basically it mean i come out in major clumps of heat bump like rash. after a couple of days the blisters fade back to a rash and it itches like hell all the time

Worst part of it is the hotter the sun and the more the exposure the worse it is and I love holidays in the sun.

aciclovir is what is used to get rid of coldsores. ie herpes simplex virus type 1

rgrs - 23/4/10 at 10:01 PM

Yes, my youngest decided to share chicken pox with me Last year, days 4-6 were the worst. To relieve the itching try a bath with bicarb it does work, also consider an anti-histamine this worked for me. I couldn't even think about the garage until about 10 days after the first spots appeared.
I was off work for 2 & 1/2 weeks after the scabs have gone you will end up with different coloured patches of skin, exposure to the sun will make these go.

Unfortunately the anti-viral meds are normally only effective if taken very early, the incubation period of chicken pox is up to 2 weeks.

Get used to a lot of day time tv, however it will give you time to search the internet for lots of bling !

I'm 39 now and have told both my kids that they do not. Have to share everthing.

Seriously bad luck fella. Probably a good time to do some designing, shopping for shiny stuff etc. You can probably still come to a meet as none of us are likely to be pregnant - we could even have a 'guess the number of spots' competition if it makes you fell better

Confused but excited. - 23/4/10 at 10:21 PM

MakeEverything, Dude that is seriously cold!
Really funny though

Prawnabie, Deepest sympathy guy. Fingers crossed you don't get shingles.

I got it when i was 18.

It was that bad, that i was off for 10 days.

I also managed to loose 2 stones :O as i couldn't eat.

mads - 24/4/10 at 07:04 AM

unlucky mate. as said, lets hope it is chicken pox and not shingles. have you had chicken pox before?

have you got some antihistamines in the house? preferably something like piriton. if so, take it to help with the itching.

sodium bicarb is great for soothing but as soon as you come out of the bath it will start again.

get the other half half to pop into Morrisons - I'm in today and will sort out a couple of things for you to ease the itching - it's only going to get worse before it gets better!

morcus - 24/4/10 at 07:21 AM

The only being able to get it once is a common myth, My brother has had it three times and I'm told my Grandad had it roughly once every decade from the 40's to the 80's (Though I dont know if thats true or just a familly joke).

prawnabie - 24/4/10 at 08:44 AM

Thanks for the replies!!

Looks like I will be on here quite alot over the next week - I have plenty of piriton which is making the itching better!!
