Yeh course that's what happened.... Do you think they were dead before they were put in the boat or shortly afterwards when someone accidentally pressed the trigger on a machine gun?

I think the phrase "if you make me come and get you I'm going to bring a whopping" springs to mind.

Still, might put off a few pirates if they know the Russian Navy is going to make them walk the plank!

My heart bleeds for them. Must of been tough accidently finding yourself aboard a Russian oil tanker and being mistaken for a pirate by the Russian Navy.

I'm suprised they wasted the inflatable and the beacon and didn't just throw them overboard.

Wonder if the Russian police are as efficent? if they are maybe we could borrow some to sort out all this anti social behaviour

well that's the rest of the world screwed then, no ones going to steal a ship from the russians again, we probably pay the pirates money to come to the uk and set them up in a nice free house

theconrodkid - 12/5/10 at 08:52 AM

fortunately the Russians dont have all these hand wringers and uman rites brigade watching their every move,at least they wont be hi-jacking any more ships

ChrisW - 12/5/10 at 08:58 AM

Probably didn't waste the bullets. I suspect someone just 'accidentally' punctured the boat. An hour later the inevitable happens. "Whoops"

Chris

scudderfish - 12/5/10 at 09:24 AM

Who's to say they actually inflated the inflatable?

A1 - 12/5/10 at 09:52 AM

10/10 for russia!! its about time these f*cking pirates got told.

waste of good anchor chain. top marks for the ruskies, they deal with terrorists just as efficiently as shown here. they may have harmed a few civilians but it makes the bad guys think twice before doing it again

They were just 'poor hungry fishermen' until foreign trawlers took all the fish that they used to live on.
It was western money that made them choose piracy or starvation.
Having said that, the Russians get my vote.

"An incapacitating gas - later described by Russia as opium-based - was pumped in, with fatal consequences for dozens of the hostages. "

It makes them think twice... so they use suicide bombers instead!

I have no problem with them killing pirates at all... but when there's hostages at stake then you really have to be a bit more careful!

The SAS and out Police seem to manage it without killing a bunch of hostages themselves!
