No cheap is probably going to be two small.. Good secondhand model needed. Others will be along to tell you what CFM and FAD you need.. I have two alidi 2hp specials, in parrell should be able to spray (just!)...

You need at a minimum a 50l tank a 2hp plus motor capable of 9cfm plus. Dont just think spraying also think about using it for air toos impact wrenches, DA sanders etc which take some air usage

+1 always get the best you can. you'll only end up swapping it in a year when you get frustrated with its limited useability.

i got a 1.5hp 25l compressor from Aldi - its a nice compressor but not man enough for most jobs.

Got a 2hp 25l compressor from them later on, this is better and if i need it i run them both at the same time (well i will if i find the need, problem is i need to run a separate extension into the garage and can't be bothered most of the time).

right ill keep my eye out for a 2hp one with 50l tank and see how i get on.

thanks guys.

i have a 5hp, 19cfm with a 150 litre tank, that is well up to the job off supplying my air needs.

I would say a 2hp is marginal for spraying. I have a 3hp, and that only just about keeps up. Only a 50L tank...
Also, belt drive is nice and compared to direct, much much quiter in use. You never know, a good s/h one my be just round the corner.............
