Alan Plater RIP
I took great delight in anything written by Alan Plater, and was deeply saddened to hear of his death on the news this morning. At his best when
writing about fairly ordinary characters he gave them life with some of the best natural dialogue dialogue ever written in the english language.

I must admit when I read your posting I thought Alan Plater ? I then looked him up and saw that his work included
included Z Cars, The Beiderbecke Affair, Fortunes Of War, Barchester Chronicles, A Very British Coup and Lewis, during a career spanning half a
century. I agree he was a very talented man. Barry
I love the Beiderbecke series of stories - the dialogue makes me laugh every time I see it (and I've watched it many times).
