40th Birthday party ideas
richard thomas - 4/7/10 at 08:30 AM

Help!

Her indoors is 40 shortly, I've started to invite a few friends around on a Saturday evening...was thinking of lighting the BBQ up and plenty of booze....

However I have realised that this could turn into the kind of party that I would throw for myself....so I need some ideas to turn it into something more biased towards her....maybe a 70's theme or similar....any ideas?

I'm afraid I'm not particularly imaginative in this area

Well if she is only 40 now then in her teenage years it'd have been say 1982 to 1989.
So look at the trends/music from that era and base the party around that.

I think "fruit-based" drinks are what you need to provide for the ladies, according to Al Murray.

Probably they will like something that looks like:

Have a fancy dress....themed on something she likes.

At SWMBO's 40th birthday party - in summertime in our back garden - we had a conjuror/magician going round doing card tricks, disappearing coins, etc. She asked for it and it seemed a bit of a weird request, but it was actually really good.

And see if you can imvite some old friends she wouldn't expect - usual caveats apply of course, no ex-boyfriends

Second fancy dress, the ladies seem to love it, hate it myself ....
