Mrs went out for a ride last night with her friend, both on horses, they called at a pub they always call at on the route they took, Twin Oaks Motel just off J29 of the M1, after queuing at the bar for a while they where asked if they where with the wedding party ?
No, well sorry where to busy cant serve you, now this a pub we both use not regularly but use it (used to have car meetings there many moons ago also)

Now I'm wanting to go down there sometime soon, order a large round of drinks then remind them whoops you dont serve us do you and walk away, any better ideas ?

The manager is a little bit on the snooty side and obviously didn't want smelly horsey people around the wedding guests, strange thing is they often have wedding party's down there and it wouldn't be the 1st time the bride as got on the Mrs horse for a photo opportunity, its a country pub, largish grounds outside and on a bridal path.......

I want sweet revenge........

Go down with a load of horses and block the car park up... then make sure they all do their "business" all over the carpark

Few weeks ago, we stopped by a pub (the Yellow Broom) relatively local to us.

We were thinking of going there for a meal, so just stopped by on the way home for a drink to check out the place and book a table.

We sat outside (nice weather) I went in to ask for a couple of drinks. It was busy, but not stupid busy with diners, there was a young lad stocking the fridges, so instead of disturbing him, I waited. A women came over and told me to "please go back to your table", I responded with the obvious, Oh, we've just stopped by for a quick drink - Well we don't serve drinks unless you are eating here.

All the above doesn't seem so dramatic, and I wouldn't mind if I was spoken to in a courteous manner, or if they were overly busy, but neither happened!

I also never went there for a family because of her attitude!

Found a lovely country pub just down the road instead!

And these places wonder why business is struggling.

The pub in my village closed last year after change of ownership. A friend of mine was thinking of taking it over and looked over the books. It was a profitable business - I'm not talking a money spinner but made money nevertheless, which many pubs are not.

The new owners arrived and from day one started rubbing everyone up the wrong way. The stock trade was for local farmers and workers to have a couple of pints after work each day in their overalls. The new owners promptly banned "workwear" in the bar. This pub is in a sleepy village with not much passing trade. They then carried out a makeover putting up flowery wallpaper. 99% of people using the pub were men. Then they stopped doing food and put in place other rules like the fact you couldn't take any glasses outside! Needless to say the pub ceased trading after 4 months and now I have to travel 5 miles to the nearest watering hole.

Organise a noisy kit car meeting in their carpark - and take your own drinks???

If i were a publican, i would welcome anyone to spend their hard earned on my beer! There is always a way around the overalls, or "horsey" types. Normally a separate bar for the workers and a beer garden for the horse owners. I think if that was the case, id even put somewhere to tie the horses up and water them!

Tell as many people as you can that you were dicriminated against, and watch the fkers struggle for business.

Tip a ton of horse manure in their entrance !

IBC tank half full of horse manure. Top up with water, leave out in the sun for a few weeks. Trailer into the pub car park and take the bung out then go in for a pint Make it a swift one

Phone them up and complain. You may well get a free meal out of it.

They should have just said yes when asked if they were with the wedding party Jon I'd be voting with my feet.

You should never put up with staff being rude, there is no excuse for it if your being perfectly civil. Telling someone that you can't serve them or what ever is one thing but they shouldn't be rude about it and you should ask to see there manager and complain.

I was going to say if you got nowhere with the manager you're not going to get very far complaining, however most of these pubs are owned by a larger chain or brewery (Scottish and Newcastle are one such company that springs to mind) so you could well go to them
