It's a concrete block construction... I have the right paint, but what is considered the best way to apply it? Brush or roller???
Think I'll start painting my garage this weekend... should have it finished sometime around Xmas!

Spray it!!
But if it came down to brush v's roller, brush every time (unless your blockwork is smooth faced and the pointing is excellent, then you might
get away with a roller)

whats the right paint ? (I've just been using cheap emulson with some mixed PVA in it)
I found the roller was next to useless on mine and thats on old bricks that already have 10+ coats of paint - I've just been using one of those
cheapo masonary brushes and its been working fine
I'll get the name for you later Robert... it was recommended by Johnsons paints in Edinburgh.

Masonry brush or decorating paste brush or fence painting brush.
All similar and seem to do a good job. When i did mine it was far easier than i expected and it makes a big difference.
It's just so gloomy in there with the grey-walls! Hopefully some white paint will brighten things up and encourage me to go in their more
often!
It was only built last year and the biggest mistake was moving 'stuff' in straight away to ease storage issues. It should have been painted
(walls and floors) at the time, but hey-ho...
All the odds and sods have just gathered and it's a tip! I also need to get the Ultima chassis / bodywork / engine down, so need to get it in
order.
I did this recently - I used normal cheap emulsion (the type you buy in massive vats from B&Q) and a large masonry roller.
Just slap it on really thick, and do 2 laps of the room.
Because I did my floor as well, I just gubbed it into all the corners and edges and tidies it up when I did the floor and ceiling (it's a built
in garage, so has a plasterboard ceiling in there).
I did the same with the floor too - 2 coats of sealer (PVA mixed 1:5 with water), cut the edges in to get a neat finish then slopped the paint on with
a thick roller leaving it to cure for 5 days before heavy use (but could walk on it after 6 hours).
Came out nice and, while I'd take more time and effort over decortaing my house, it's only a garage and I only did it because I had no car
in there and it makes a nicer environment to work in.
I did try a spray unit (one of those Earlex type things) and it was beyond useless - had to water the paint down so much it was like spraying the
walls with milk. £30 and a morning wasted. The reality is it only took my a couple of hours to paint the walls by roller (standard single garage).
