Ned, Deckman, James, Surrey Dave....quite a few there

Alan B - 1/6/04 at 03:46 PM

Ned.

greggors84 - 1/6/04 at 04:00 PM

Can we have the answer by the end of the day please Chris?

Hellfire - 1/6/04 at 04:25 PM

Good point Steve, hence perhaps why I can't find the posts in question any more Got a feeling I posted the links to them a while back... time to go search for the backups me thinks!

Chris

Mk-Ninja - 1/6/04 at 05:40 PM

I thought you knew who it was Chris, so why do you need the backups.?

Viper - 1/6/04 at 05:59 PM

What brought this on? have i missed something again?

ChrisW - 1/6/04 at 06:22 PM

I remember who it was, just can't find the info to prove it!

Chris

stephen_gusterson - 1/6/04 at 06:48 PM

liam re simon - thats a good point.

I can say with all honesty its not me!

Viper - nothing started it - apart from Con posting recently.

It just opened a can o beans that we thought we might like to tip out and see whats in the bottom

well ya see, i was posting as con for a few years before i thought id join the list properly! probably a vote by someone suspicious of my motives for starting the thread!

ChrisG has some bloody convincing conversations with con, so good i almost believe they are real. But not quite...

its chrisg in my books, though chris rarely ever uses the icon, which considerably uses often.

if you read all the posts made by con in other threads, ie not the MCOB thread or the TOL thread, they are all quite convincing. I think the useful ones have been edited out by now.

It'll be disappointing finding out for sure anyway...

oh yeah, have you noticed cons silence?! bet he doesnt dare log out himself and make a post as con!!!

i tried posting under a different name once got banned...

stephen_gusterson - 1/6/04 at 10:16 PM

perhaps you posted summat bad.

I have 2 other accounts I dont use....

one is similar to this named, cos i had a password prob once, and the other was 'ozzy' as a response to a post, but hippy sussed me right way.

do you think I could maintain TWO accounts????? !!!!

atb

steve

my vote is also for locodude, poss the other of the chris twins too

Considerably - 2/6/04 at 11:41 AM

HEY

No option to vote for Other ?

I don't remember editing any posts in January ?

You could probably track me down if you wanted, I have posted elsewhere in response to locost builders queries and used to be on TOL (where my greatest achievement was getting TOL to change their forum heading).

...but there are a lot of people who post from work, who could have 2 computers - or even 1 computer with 2 browsers open simultaneously!

David

ned - 2/6/04 at 12:04 PM

David,

2 browsers on 1 computer would be unlikely as it'd show up on Chrisw's IP scans and chris has told me this wasn't how he found out as chris said quote: he's too smart for that!

Ned.

stephen_gusterson - 2/6/04 at 12:05 PM

thats not conclusive ned.

I have tested and found that you cant have 2 open windows on this site with diff log ons - one logs out the other.

However, I have access to two PC at home and 3 here...... as could many others.

ned - 2/6/04 at 12:22 PM

Mr Ison?

200mph - 2/6/04 at 12:39 PM

now that was a funny one..

considerably was in our presence...I goes off to make a cup of tea, comes back and he's gone...

who should replace him but mr gusterson/

like clark kent and superman? so the question is......who wears the glasses

mark

Hellfire - 2/6/04 at 01:04 PM

Surely with 2 PC's - unless you had a different provider for each your IP address would be the same?

ned - 2/6/04 at 01:08 PM

ISP's normally own ranges of ip addresses and give them out on this basis. nrmally you won't get the same ip[ address twice. and as you say he could easily have 2 isp's installed and be dialling up to a different one to log in as considerably.

Ned.

But the thing is, why is he bothering?? It sounds like a lot of hassle to me, like it's quite absurd!! (??)

JoelP - 2/6/04 at 02:05 PM

considerably does talk with mr gusterwotsits subtle humour though, im getting suspicious steve!

stephen_gusterson - 2/6/04 at 02:23 PM

great

I want as many people as poss to think its me, cos you are gonna be SOOO wrong.

I post from two IP addresses - work and home. Work is a fixed IP and home is a semi fixed ip that needs my broadband modem to be off for a day before the old IP is released, and a new one is gathered.

ChrisW could easily check my IP's and will find that work is a constant, and my home one has been the same for months.

Therefore, how would I get a different IP?

and, my name has been up with Con's if we beleive the 'cant be in 2 places at one time' thing with the IP. If I logged on another PC here, it would still issue the same core providers IP.

A question for ChrisW.........

If you dont wanna give it away yet as to real names, whats the first two groups of IP numbers, or the provider of the perp....... that way if we knew it was NTL, demon, telewest, whatever, we could narrow things down by email adresses.......

atb

steve

Hellfire - 2/6/04 at 02:33 PM

I find this detective type questioning quite funny ChrisW must be reading this with a wry smile on his face! due to him knowing who it is!

It's better not knowing...

stephen_gusterson - 2/6/04 at 02:38 PM

Thats not quite true ned.

a dialup is dynamic.

my work has a fixed ip.

my home provider (ntl) issues IP on a semi permanent basis.

IP get renewed after a 24 hr lease, in order to get a completly different one, you must power down for 24 hrs or more.

my IP will have been the same for yonks

(just imagine if I 'accidentally' typed considerably there.... Id have you all pointing the finger at me)

JoelP - 2/6/04 at 02:54 PM

i'll let you off steve, having reread the MCOB thread you have very real conversations with him.

I suspect the way to find a definate answer is to compile a shortlist of suspects, and see who posts fewer times into the original thread. Even if the culprit stages some conversations with themselves, there will be fewer overall.

One noticable quiet person on the MCOB thread also was the first to suggest that con was trolling. A guilty mind mayhaps?!

It cant be Chris Gibbs or gibbons i think because con started out arguing the other endf of their argument. But jon always was quite friendly with him.

plus, con said at one point that a dude on Wakey (wakefield) council knew him. If thats relevant to anything...

i think its alanB.

Hellfire - 3/6/04 at 06:12 PM

Has anyone noticed 'stapleballs' hasn't been on for a while?

Mk-Ninja - 3/6/04 at 06:15 PM

He has been on a bit, I think he posted something last week. Hes not on as much as he was.

Considerably - 3/6/04 at 06:19 PM

Why are you all so convinced that I am someone posting under an alias ?

Is there not the possibility that I am my own person. Who just happened to surf on in all that time ago wondering what was going on with the COMB thread ?

And who just pops back now and again to see who the abuse levels are going ? (very disappoingly I would add).

stephen_gusterson - 3/6/04 at 09:54 PM

its not staple balls.

hes not been on for a fair while, and is far too recent a member to have been around the first time con showed up.
