I found this a couple of days ago and it seems pretty good for a 2D package.

It seems very similar to the older Autodesk products.

Not actually checked it out myself...no real need to TBH, but many people are always asking about CAD especially if it's free...obviously they hope you buy their other products, but free is free...

I am part way working through the DraftSite Getting Started Guide and it appears to have all the functions that I expect in 2D CAD.
I have AutoDesk AutoSketch Release 8 but it uses it's own file format which is inconvenient and does occasionally fall over so I think that I will be using DraftSite in the future.
