Right...my previous Nokia on O2 used to ring for a decent length of time (maybe 15 sec?) before swithching to voicemail. My new Vodafone HTC seems to ring for maybe 5 sec which is really irratating as I don't necessarily have it my hand.

Can't find a setting on the handset, is it something I can get Vodafone to change? (figured it would be quicker/easier/more accurate to ask on here before trying Vodafone customer services )

The cynic in me feels Vodafone do it on purpose forcing you to call back and ensuring they get the call.

Your probably right. my parent have this problem with all there phones, It means I have to waste money talking to answering services and still don't know if they're in. My phone (On Virgin) rings for a decent amount of time and I had a quick look and can't seen any way to change it so I'm guessing its not the handset that determines it.

I know that doesn't really answer your question but it might help.

Perhaps post which phone you have. My old htc was bloody ackward to change settings

This is for the HTC HD2 Leo. I'm not sure if it's exactly the same but I sounds similar to my old htc too.

30. Activate Voicemail 30 Seconds After Call Rings
For those who find that an incoming call goes too quickly to voicemail and does not give you enough time to answer it you can increase the delay up to 30 seconds now. Go to Settings, Personal Tab, Phone, Services, Call Forwarding and Get Settings. You can change the delay from 5 to 30 seconds under the forwarding option. If that does not work based on your carrier, try this:
reg edit: HKEY_CURRENT_USERControlPanelPhoneCallFwd
change “DelaySeconds” value to 30 which should indicate 30 seconds.
