If you're doing it yourself you don't need to be registered only if you're charging for it.

I fitted my own fireplace today.....

I've had a flue fitted recently - there are 2 official routes. The first is to use a HETAS installer, who takes responsibilty for meeting building regs.

The alternative is to use an ordinary builder (or do it yourself) but you'll have to get a building inspector in to check the installation of the hearth, flue and the surrounding materials around the stove.

I went the HETAS route for simplicity's sake.

What size burner is it ?

Only have to involve HetasBuilding Control if it's over 5Kw.

I've got two fitted in my house.
I did the 1st one by myself as it was only 5KW.
Got a Hetas engineer to fit the 11KW with built in boiler and got a thermal store installed athe same time.
