Has anyone had experiance with the cheap pans that come up on piston bay or E heads from time to time. They are usually ex copper or NHS ambulance /blood service.

Seems like a lot of bike for the dosh asked.

If Im going to get two wheels its a tourer like a beemer or a Honda that I want.
Its got to be a long distace cruzer with out the cramps in the legs storys.

Even an Old Wing would do but they are a tad chavy..

The other thing is my bike licence was never exchanged when we got the African licence swopped so it would be a whole test AGAIN...


I had a bad twang with a sports bike in Durbs but we rode everyday through heavy traffic so exposure to traffic mishaps was bound to catch up with you...

MMMMM two wheel or a car engine Caterfield with a mazda heart. Just want to do some long tours.....

I ride an ex plod ST1300 pan and it is very comfortable all day, and certainly quick enough with bags of torque. I've not ridden the 1100 but I would go for the bigger one. Stable at speed and easy to control with the raising screen for when its really raining hard, though I don't really use it.

Lovely bikes, but ex service bikes can have been abused, so pick one with less than 30k miles of you can.

unless they been changed? check the collector box on the exhaust, lots of the bikes for some stupid reason run stainless front pipes, then steel collectors

I know of 2 pans with low/medium miles, looked mint but had rotted out sections of exhaust

that said,any bike being ex nhs/blood/police/aa etc etc they were probably used regularly and the exhausts didnt suffer from high moisture as they do when only used for short runs and not fully warmed up

oh forgot to say, if you dont like it as a bike, then they make excellent trike donors

297kg dry weight Don't drop it.

They will do ridiculous mileages though, near enough bomb proof.
