Just wanted to say hi to everyone as I've just joined the site. I've got the bug since visiting the Kent Kit Car Show and a friend
recommended I join. This certainly seems the place to be.
hi! welcome too...
any ideas what you wanna build yet?
Welcome!
Terribly sorry to hear about your master
Ditto on on Joel's qestion, what are you looking to build?
Cheers, Ted
This is indeed the very place to be. All the answers are here - it's all been done so just ask and one of the gurus will be along shortly with
the answer.
I'm hoping to build a Locust as I have bought a copy of Rons book but I fancy the idea of IRS. I understand there are drawings available to go
along with the originals from the book but I don't know where to get them from.
I'm pretty new to all this but I have a friend who is willing to teach me to weld and a brother who is fairly mechanically minded.
if you want to build a locust, better stock up on your MDF.
A locost is what most people are building here, a locust is fairly similar but had wood panels!
Easy mistake to make!
Yes, don't join the "kings of cuprinol"
Build a Locost, and join the club.
Cheers
Chris
Actually if you do own a LocUst it's a unique opportunity to fail your mot on"dry rot"

Thanks Ali, the drawings are great. I've printed them out on the laser printer at work for future reference. Also the Excel cutting list will be
very helpful.
I've taped it. My DVD player's a Ronin P215 as well. Only need another 3 and we'll be up to the 5th Ronin
.
Ronin, when you do come to cutting up the metal, you can actually mark up the angles by laying them on the drawing - makes it very easy indeed....this
may seem bloddy obvious o some - but not to me at the time

If you can make the front bit, the rest is easy by comparison. The la, lb assembly is the awkward bit, I've done it several times and thought after that it would be easier to make it flat and cut the angles on the top and bottom chassis rails instead, they would be simple not compound that way and it wouldn't affect the rest of the chassis.
Thanks for the help and advice folks, seems like I've definately come to the right place. I've been looking at the Mcsorley drawings. Is the 7+4 suitable for Sierra drive shafts etc as I have some Sierra running gear freely available if I want it?
