It pays to talk!

So i had a letter through from o2 today saying my broadband charge was going to increase next month, thought i better sort it out.

So, when i signed up i paid:

£11.50 - bt line rental
£7.50 - unlimited o2 broadband

Not bad!

As it stands now it's:

£14ish - bt line rental
£14.50 - o2 broadband

Gone up a fair bit!

So aftger speaking to o2, got offered a few different options, pointed out that he's still trying to charge me more for extra stuff i don't want, so he starting reducing the basic cost a bit, but the 'basic' package now is worse than the unlimited i'm already on... starting mentioning plusnet and he said he'd go and see what else he can do.

He has now offered me:

£7.66 - o2 line rental
£0 - 12 months broadband

so broadband AND line rental £7.66!

AMAZING!

I have to give it to o2, they really are good with haggling when you say you're going to leave, just need to make sure you stick to your guns and have done some homework!

And i'm well aware the o2 line rental is probably crap for charging for calls etc, but i haven't made a landline call in about 5 years, so suits me fine!

Nice one but what is your broadband going to be after the 12 months?

dont really care, it's a 12 month contract so if it's going to be rubbish i'll just switch again

Make sure it is definately a 12 month contract. Since changes made by Offcom (or maybe the European equivalent I cant remember) they're allowed to make contracts 18mths standard and most seem to be these days!

Cheers

Annoys me that - Now difficult to get a 12 month mobile contract!

What bothers me is that nothing these days is made to last so the chance of something electronic still working as it should in 18 months is slim - and 24 months?.....

Hahaaa sale of goods act

If they're going to demand a phone be tied to a 2 year contract it should damn well last for 2 years. End of.

Also any company that won't bend a little to keep their customers aren't worth sticking with. I'm still with Orange because come new phone time I ask them what offers they'll do me and they make it so that it's not worth going anywhere else (doubled my minutes this time, so it's 800 iirc for £20 and last time they gave me half price. Both times no-one else could match the price)
