Right, Im in the process of making the downstairs loo abit more nice! I have just removed all the plaster from one wall. This was easy as it had blown that much that I removes it all in about 2 pieces. Anyway I am going to tile the walls but my question is, how do I box in the pipe work above the toilet as its a real eye sore. Here is the pic of how it is now. Any advice welcome.



What I want to acheive is a nice clean look and not be able to see all that pipe work. I wont be tiling the boxed in bit as may need to get to pipes in future. Oh and the wife does klnow Ive started this so I need to pull my finger out and get making before she says something about another job started and not ever getting finished

Definitely a fake removable tiled panel with some ventilation to keep area behind dry and accessible.

Personally? two battons screwed to the wall either side and a big old bit of WBP ply with a cut out for the boiler screwed into the baton. Then paint the lot. Simples.

Why not make up a panel to cover the boiler as well as the pipework.
You can get nice gloss white doors from B&Q (Effectively kitchen doors) but they double as bedroom units too.

I'd lag those pipes at the same time BTW

As said, I would make a door from mdf or buy a suitable one ready made if possible. Will always look better and give easy access for repair & maintenance.

If you're boxing in the boiler be careful about regs on minimum distance between boiler and woody bits. Also access from below for servicing. I have 5 inches clearance below and engineer said it wasn't enough. Mind you, he charged £175 so I suppose he had to put something in the report ( he did change a £20 seal so a bargain I suppose .
